Coverage
39 rules on purpose — not 400 of folklore.
A curated shelf: primary sources only. Thin and checkable beats fat and embarrassing. Topics, jurisdictions, ownership, and what we still refuse to invent.
By what goes wrong
- Consent and tracking13 rules
Permission to email, permission to measure, and why they are not the same thing.
- Authentication4 rules
SPF, DKIM, DMARC, alignment, and the traps that pass a checker but fail in the wild.
- Provider rules7 rules
What Gmail, Yahoo, Microsoft and Apple require, with the numbers they enforce on.
- Content and claims5 rules
What a subject line may promise, and what happens when the promise is not true.
- AI disclosure1 rule
When AI-generated copy and imagery must be labelled, and when they must not.
- Measurement4 rules
Which numbers still mean something, and which ones your platform is flattering.
- Bounces and hygiene5 rules
Suppression, retries, and the classifications every platform gets slightly wrong.
By jurisdiction
Europe is first-class where we have sources: EU-wide ePrivacy / AI / accessibility, plus France, Germany, Italy, and UK PECR as its own row. Missing Member States means we have not shipped a sourced page yet — not that those markets are irrelevant.
By ownership
- Your ESP already did thisMainstream platforms do this automatically. You can move on.1
- Part platform, part youThe platform covers the mechanical bit. The judgement is still yours.18
- This one needs youNo platform does this for you. One concrete move, then you are done.15
- Good to know — nothing to fixChanges a number you report or a risk you carry, not today's task list.5

What we skip on purpose
Not because you are not smart enough — because the evidence is thin or the category is dishonest.
- Inbox-placement % and seed-panel scores (we refuse the category).
- Warm-up rate folklore with no primary provider number.
- ESP bounce ordinals where the vendor’s own page contradicts itself.
- Member-state law outside the jurisdictions listed above.
- Paid monitoring / Klaviyo OAuth scans (not built; free checks only).
